Flashback Arrestors -Bodies & CGA Assemblies

Flashback Arrestor Bodies and Assemblies are available for special applications.  Flashback Arrestor Bodies consist of ¼ F and ¼ NPTM connections.  Assemblies for Adaptors and Pigtails consist of standard CGA connections on both the inlet and outlet sides of a Flashback Arrestor Body.  Western also offers assemblies with ball seat check valves for the inlet side of the Flashback Arrestor Body.

Flashback Arrestor Bodies extinguish flashes or flames before they reach the cylinder.  Flashback Arrestor Assemblies are designed for installation of acetylene cylinders to prevent flashbacks into the cylinder.

These Flashback Arrestor Bodies/Assemblies can be used in any lead not exceeding 3/8" pipe size which connects an acetylene cylinder to a regulator, manifold or other equipment.  Rated flow capacity is 40 SCFH with a 5 PSIG pressure drop.  These units are factory assembled and 100% tested for service.

Please Note:  Using Flashback Arrestors w/Check Valves as a precaution to avoid potentially dangerous situations is not a substitute for careful handling or strict adherence to safety rules and procedures for handling high pressure gases.  Users should not tamper with the internal components of a Flashback Arrestor.  Flashback Arrestors cannot be cleaned or refilled after a flash in the system.  They must be replaced if the pressure drop through the Arrestor reaches 10 PSIG or more.

This Flashback Arrestor easily mounts on most regulators and has a re-settable pressure control valve which cuts off gas supply in the event of a flashback or reverse gas flow (over 7 PSIG).  This helps alert welders/gas users that a flashback and/or reverse gas flow has taken place.  Re-setting is easy.  Just pull up on the pressure control knob.  No disassembly or special tools required.
